Village Letter June 2016

Cowfold Community and Sports Pavilion

We are very, very nearly there!

It has been a little quiet with regard to the “new” Community and Sports Pavilion but, with a change of Parish Council and a new impetus and determination, the final plans should be approved by Horsham District Council very soon. This will provide the village with an impressive community function room and kitchen for all to enjoy, be it for private gatherings or village events, together with refurbished sporting facilities. Full details are on the Cowfold Parish Council website.

With the closing of shops in the centre of Cowfold, this can now be seen as a new focus to enhance community life and a facility for us all to be proud of.

The Parish Council is proposing to apply for a Public Works Loan to top up the necessary funds for the building. This will need to be paid back over a 50 year period and will mean a very small increase in your overall Council Tax of up to approximately 1.5%. Every effort will be made to apply for any grants available to reduce the value of the loan as much as possible.

The Parish Council, on behalf of the village, is very excited about the plans finally coming to fruition and it is hoped that work can start in the spring of next year.

If you have any comments or questions, please direct them to the Parish Clerk, Jan Wright, by email or in writing before Monday 18 July 2016.
