HDC Health Walk (NEW): Community Plastic Free Steyning Walk

Kings Barn Farm

The walk is 3 - 4 miles with a duration of 2 hrs. Meet at Kings Barn Farm at the end of Kings Barn Lane, Steyning. OS Map 187115 The walk will take approximately 2 hours as we walk alongside the River Adur and down The Downs Link towards Henfield where we can stop for coffee and a bite to eat before catching the bus back to Steyning. The aim is to pick up tidal debris from beside the river. Walkers are encouraged to bring gloves and to wear walking boots. Families and dogs welcome. Leader: Ann (01903 297553).

Country Park Car Park

The walk is 2.6 miles with a duration of 75 mins. Meet in the Visitor Centre car park of the Country Park, (off Cripplegate Lane, RH13 9UN). Along bridleways and country lanes and return via the Downs Link. No stiles, but can be muddy. Not suitable for wheelchairs or prams. The café and toilets at the Park will be open. Sorry no dogs. £1.50 parking charge applies at the Country Park between 1st April and 31st October. Leader: Alex (01403 273751).

A walk of five miles with a duration of2 hrs 15 mins. Meet in Car Park, northern end of Handcross on B2110 by sports pavilion/children’s play area (RH17 6BJ) near Water Lane. There is no parking P sign, just a yellow height barrier near and on the same side as Water Lane. A variety of walks start here gentle undulating ground, tracks, paths, woodland etc. quite shady. Clayton Recreation Ground Car Park

A walk of 5.5 miles with a duration of 2.5 hrs. Meet in the Clayton recreation ground car park which is about 150m, on the left, along Underhill Lane (TQ300140, BN6 9PJ). After an initial strenuous climb to the trig point on Wolstonbury Hill, with its panoramic views, we descend to continue the walk on farm tracks, fields and woodland. A few stiles. A walk for dog owners into accessible areas of the Steyning Downland Scheme and includes a hill. Supported by HDC & Steyning Downland Scheme. Maximum of two dogs per handler, you are responsible for actions of your dog. Ann (01903 297553).
